This six-day itinerary includes an important acclimatisation day at Horombo Huts, improving comfort and summit chances. The trail passes through every ecological zone from rainforest and moorland to alpine desert and the summit area near Kibo.

- 01Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO)
Welcome, transfer to your lodge in Moshi or Arusha, and a full pre-climb briefing with your guide. Overnight Lastanza Safari Lodge.
- 02Marangu Gate → Mandara Huts
1,860 m → 2,700 m, 4–5 hours. Park registration and a gentle rainforest walk among colobus monkeys and tropical birds.
- 03Mandara Huts → Horombo Huts
2,700 m → 3,720 m, 6–7 hours. The forest opens into moorland with views to Mawenzi Peak. Evening health check.
- 04Acclimatisation day at Horombo
3,720 m, 2–3 hours. A short hike to Zebra Rocks or the Mawenzi Saddle, then rest, hydration and a follow-up health check.
- 05Horombo Huts → Kibo Huts
3,720 m → 4,703 m, 6–7 hours. Across the alpine desert at a steady, energy-saving pace. Early dinner and summit preparation.
- 06Summit day → Uhuru Peak → Horombo
Midnight ascent to Gilman's Point, then the crater rim to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 m, before descending to Horombo for the night. Final morning down to Marangu Gate for certificates and departure.

- How many people share a vehicle?
- Every departure is private. Your party has the whole 4×4 to itself with a guaranteed window seat and pop-up roof for each guest.
- Can this itinerary be customised?
- Yes, every route here is a starting shape. We regularly extend nights, swap camps, add Zanzibar or restructure days around photography light.
- What does the price depend on?
- Season, group size and camp category. The quoted rate is a per-person guide for two travellers sharing in mid-season; we confirm exact pricing with your dates.
- What is the payment schedule?
- A 30% deposit confirms the booking, with the balance due 45 days before arrival. Bank transfer and card payments are both accepted.
- Is it suitable for children or older travellers?
- Yes. We adjust drive lengths, road transfers and lodge choices to suit families and to keep travel comfortable at any age.
- What should I pack for photography?
- A long lens (400mm+), a wide zoom, spare cards and batteries. We supply bean bags in every vehicle and can arrange charging in the field.
